Lost Ark developer Smilegate RPG took further anti-bot measures this weekend to make some missions less attractive to bot farms. This was done by removing gold from certain early world and stronghold missions, which sounds like an effective solution but unfortunately means that legitimate players can no longer expect to receive gold for completing those missions. The game's latest patch notes do not specify which missions have been changed to achieve this goal.
This isn't the first time Lost Ark has received such an update to improve mission rewards, and it likely won't be the last either. The full patch notes can be found here, but the relevant section with detailed information on the mission reward changes can be found below.
Other fixes
The gold rewards for various early world and stronghold missions have been replaced with various new rewards to discourage bots from farming.
Updated the dialogue from Xereon in the South Vern Alliance temporary quest.
Fixed an issue that caused debug text to appear when placing objects in the Stronghold.
The expiration date of the requested Feiton Powerpass has been updated to the correct date June 30th.
Please note that all Feiton Power Passes expire on June 30th, regardless of when they are collected.
Bots have been a recurring problem in Lost Ark since the beginning of the game, and these automated accounts take gold from those early missions. This can negatively impact the in-game economy, so it makes sense to remove gold from these early missions. Smilegate will certainly specify the "early" section in these patch notes to indicate that world and fortress missions that offer gold later still pay gold rewards, presumably because there is less incentive for bots to target these missions than the easier early missions .
However, this does not mean that this change has already taken place completely. Some community members complain that ***** has been removed from another set of missions, all of which are bot-centric. While bots are a bigger problem overall, this change will affect regular players as well. Some of the arguments put forward are certainly salacious and don't really show what's going to happen, but they at least show the problems some players are having with this anti-bot strategy.
