Hey everyone. I am a photographer with basic knowledge on framing, and I recently installed a show at a local gallery. They have a hanging system which I’m sure many of you are familiar with- long wires hanging from a aluminum bar with an adjustable hook on which the photograph is supposed to hang.
With these types of hanging systems it seems that the frame always hangs at an angle, sometimes almost 45 degrees from the wall. My question is if there’s a particular trick to the picture wire on the frame, or is this just the behavior of these systems? It looks very tacky IMO and I want the frame to be as flush to the wall as possible. Having all my images lean that far forward is distracting.
Just looking for any sage wisdom you might have. Thanks!

I’ve used picture wire and gallery hanging systems a few times, and I’ve found them both super handy depending on what you're hanging. For me, picture wire is great if you're working with frames that already have hooks on the back—it gives you a bit of flexibility for adjusting the position. Gallery hanging systems, though, are awesome for a cleaner look. They let you shift the artwork around without making holes in the wall, which is perfect if you're constantly rearranging things. I like how neat it looks, and it’s so easy to change things up without any mess. If you’re looking for something a bit more modern and flexible, I’d recommend checking out systems like the ones from ***** —they’ve got some great options. It depends on your style and what you’re hanging, but both can do the job well!
