Childhood *****
Jiří Procházka was born on October 14, 1992 in the small town of Hostěradice, which is located in the eastern part of the Czech Republic. Tragically, Jiří's father died when the boy was only six years old, so he was raised primarily by his mother.
The temperamental Jiří, who grew up without a father figure, often got into trouble and got into street fights with local neighborhood kids. During this tumultuous period of his youth, Jiří experimented with various sports, including football, BMX, cycling and floorball, but found it difficult to find a real outlet for his boundless energy and aggression.
Only when Jiří applied to the University of Defense in Brno at the age of 16 did he discover his true calling – the world of martial arts. With a desire to improve his fighting skills, Jiří began training Thai boxing under the guidance of coach Martin Karaivanov at the Jetsaam gym.
The discipline and focus that martial arts require had a profound impact on young Jiří. He no longer sought out random street fights, became more composed and calm, and channeled his energy into productive training sessions that brought him a sense of purpose and accomplishment. In just two and a half years, Jiří won his first major competition, the Muay Thai Championship of the Czech Republic.
Having mastered the art of Thai boxing, Jiří turned his attention to the emerging world of mixed martial arts (MMA). As Jiří delved deeper into the sport, he realized that true greatness in MMA requires not only physical prowess, but also inner strength and self-control.
"During the training, I immersed myself, I started to face my fears. You could say that MMA made me a man. I became more self-confident and took on more responsibility," reflected Jiří. "I understood that MMA is not about aggression or beating people, but an excellent opportunity to develop self-control, discipline and your best personal qualities."
Jiří Procházka, forged by his trials and tribulations, finally turned professional in 2012, jumping the amateur ranks and immediately establishing himself as a rising star in the world of MMA. His journey from troubled youth to disciplined world-class fighter serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes around the world, showcasing the transformative power of martial arts and the triumph of the human spirit.
