Looking ahead to PvP in WotLK Classic, the question soon arises of how to approach Lake of Winter's Embrace. Packing dozens of players into a camping area? How does staggering and splitting work? And other changes to special outdoor PvP areas. The developers answered these questions in a blog post. You can read a summary here.
One of the highlights of ***** is the massive Lake of Winter's Embrace battlefield, which pits players against each other several times a day in the eponymous area in the heart of Northrend. Depending on who controls the fortress, players must assume the role of attacker or defender. The attacker must use tanks, catapults and bombs to destroy both walls, including the main gate on one side of the fortress, within a given time frame to win. The defenders block the tanks with their lives and the fortress' turrets.
With this classic feature, however, the question arises as to whether the developers will bring the Battle of Lake Winter's Embrace to the game in the same way as back then or adapt it to today's realities. In an official blog post, the developers explain in detail their plans for the outdoor battlefield. You can find the highlights here. In short, not much has changed, but the battlefield needs to be instanced.
WoW: Dragonflight: Discover special equipment for inscriptions
After fishing, mining and alchemy professional equipment, today we can admire the inscription professional equipment in Warcraft.
The flow of players at the beginning of a battle in Winter Embrace Lake will be enormous. However, modern features like slicing or layering don't work on this battlefield, otherwise too much damage would be done. This is why Winter Embrace Lake is instanced.
Every three hours, players outside of Lake Winter's Embrace or in Dalaran will be notified that the Battle of Lake Winter's Embrace is about to begin. Players outside of Lake Winterfell will receive an invitation to queue, while players in Dalaran will have a brief opportunity to speak to an NPC in their camp area to queue.
The maximum and minimum number of players required to start a battle has been significantly reduced for both camps (from 40 players per side).
Toughness buff is still there
Tenacity is a stacking gain that *significantly* increases the strength of a large number of players.
The essence of Lake Winterfell remains intact
This buffalo gives you access to other content. For example, at the end of a fight you can face elemental enemies in the Lake of Winter's Embrace area or access parts of the Stone Warden.
This is a special currency that players can use to purchase powerful items such as mounts, enchantments, and recipes.
The Millennium as an outdoor area
Wintergrasp will continue to exist as a PvP outdoor area in Wrath of the Lich King Classic and will function in the same way as it did during the non-combat periods.
Players who possess the Essence of Winter's Grasp will have access to the opposing Wailing Spirit elementals in the zone, and the faction's NPCs will still be available. Of course, the PvP markers are always activated.
