1996 - Meridian 59: Ein kommerzieller Meilenstein wurde von diesem Spiel aufgestellt. Denn es war das erste MMORPG, welches von einem großen Publisher (3DO) als Boxversion verkauft wurde und auch ein großes Medienecho hervor rief. Für dieses gab es genau zwei Gründe: Meridian war vollständig in 3D umgesetzt und hatte als erstes MMORPG bezahlbare Monatsgebühren. In den USA wird es heute noch von einigen Enthusiasten gespielt.
